How We Guarantee Backups (SaaS)
Your business continuity is crucial, and probably you have questions regarding how your data in GitLab.com is backed up.
Backups of our databases and filesystem are taken every 24 hours and are kept for 2 weeks on a rolling duration. They are all encrypted.
Some points to be noted
- We backup GitLab.com and make sure your data is secure, but you can’t use these methods to export / backup your data yourself from GitLab.com.
- Issues are stored in the database. They can’t be stored in Git itself.
- You can use the Project Export option using the UI or the API. These are described here: https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/project/settings/import_export.html#exporting-a-project-and-its-data and here: https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/api/project_import_export.html.
- Group Export would not export the projects in it, but instead would get the Epics, Milestones, Boards, Labels and more. Read here for a complete documentation: https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/group/settings/import_export.html .
